Heritage Oaks Memorial Park
McKean Road
San Jose, California

Heritage Oaks, a state-certified, full-service, modern memorial park, is proposed for a spectacular site with rolling terrain located in south San Jose, high above the Coyote Valley and adjacent to Cinnabar Hills Golf Club. Heritage Oaks is planned as a nearly 185-acre memorial park that sits within an overall 465-acre setting, the balance going into undeveloped open space.

Heritage Oaks is intended to serve the respectful disposition needs of the greater San Jose community for the next 200 years. San Jose, the 10th largest city in the United States, has an acute need to plan and implement a new memorial park because the last one was built in 1889 and the ground burial space in the city’s three, existing memorial parks could be fully utilized within 8 to 12 years.

As a full-service memorial Park, Heritage Oaks would provide all services associated with disposition, including cremation and mortuary services. As a modern facility, it will provide a tranquil place for thought, reflection and prayer, incorporating “villages” to provide for our many diverse cultures. There also will be places for visitors to enjoy viewing public art along an integrated trail system for walkers and joggers. This trail system would connect future job and residential growth planned in the Coyote Valley through Heritage Oaks with the 5,000-acre Calero County Park. Along with great vistas of Mt. Umunhum, Loma Prieta and Mt. Hamilton, the trail system would include several interpretive centers where visitors will be able to learn about the rich cultural history of San Jose and surrounding area.
