Opened in 1996, San Juan Oaks Golf Club was co-developed by Brandenburg Properties and the Nikko Group. The golf course was designed by PGA Golf Professional Fred Couples and architect Gene Bates. The front nine plays through a valley replete with lakes, interconnecting streams and native grasslands. The Back nine takes golfers 150 to 200 feet above the valley floor for spectacular views of pristine California countryside.
The course offers five sets of tees and measures 4,770 yards from the front tees to 7,100 yards from the back. The course includes a full-length driving range with grass tees and five target greens. The main clubhouse is early California Mission style with 19,000 square feet and seats up to 300 people in the banquet room. A separate 6,000-square-foot facility houses locker rooms, shower rooms and golf carts. The Fred Couples Room is a private conference/board room offing seating for up to 40 and interesting displays of Fred Couples’ trophies, awards, photographs and other memorabilia. Golf Digest Magazine has ranked San Juan Oaks among the 30 best courses in North America for service and value. (www.sanjuanoaks.com)
